DESERT BUS FOR HOPE

This was  a student project I worked on while at the Rhode Island School of Design. It is based on the game "Desert Bus," a hyper-realistic gag video game developed by Penn & Teller. In it, the player drives for 8 hours in a straight line through a desert from Tuscon to Las Vegas. The bus requires steering as it will drift slightly to the right. If the bus runs off the road, it will be towed back to the starting point in real time. Upon reaching Las Vegas, the player scores one point, but must immediately decide if they want to keep playing and drive back to Tuscon. There is no ending. The game is pure torture.

"Desert Bus for Hope" is a charity event for the charity "Child's Play." A group of Canadian comedians get together every year to livestream themselves playing this game. They keep playing as long as people keep donating money. So far, they have collected a total of 3.8 million dollars from 2007 to 2016.
